Bask in the sophisticated, velvety warmth of prime 1980s jazz-funk. This original 1983 UK pressing of Gentle Fire showcases legendary saxophonist and bass player Wilton Felder (of The Crusaders) at his smoothest. Co-produced alongside keyboard wizard Joe Sample, the album delivers a flawless blend of soul-jazz, rich analog synthesizers, and breezy adult-contemporary grooves.
Featuring a stellar lineup of guest session musicians—including the distinctive vocal harmonies of A Taste of Honey—this 12" vinyl is an absolute masterclass in pristine studio instrumentation and late-night jazz atmosphere. Housed in its striking iconic cover jacket depicting Felder balancing a small flame, this exceptionally clean copy is a must-have for jazz-funk fusion enthusiasts and lovers of smooth crate-digging grooves.

Condition & Inspection Report
  • Media Grading: Very Good Plus (VG+)
    • Visual: The black wax is exceptionally clean and bright, maintaining its deep, reflective original sheen. Under direct, harsh inspection lighting, it shows only a minor few paper sleeve wisps from routine removal.
    • Playback: Audio tracks play beautifully with a strong, clean, and punchy dynamic signal. The horn sections and smooth basslines replicate flawlessly with very minimal background surface noise. The blue MCA Records cloud center labels remain crisp, sharp, and clean.
  • Sleeve Grading: Very Good (VG)
  • Details: The original non-gatefold picture sleeve retains its deep colors but displays routine light storage wear, minor corner rubbing, and very mild shelf scuffing along the black perimeter background. The seams and spine are firm, rigid, and fully intact with no splitting. The text on the reverse cover layout remains perfectly sharp and readable. Includes a clean paper inner sleeve.
