Ronald Chetwynd-Hayes. Published exclusively by BFS Publications in October 1997, this 60-page special release was produced in a very small print run to coincide with the author's appearance as a Guest of Honour at the 1997 World Fantasy Convention in London.
Chetwynd-Hayes is one of the most iconic figures in British horror literature. He authored hundreds of ghost stories, edited the classic Fontana Book of Great Ghost Stories, and wrote the source material for famous Amicus and Milton Subotsky horror anthology films like From Beyond the Grave (1973) and The Monster Club (1980).

Shocks gathers four scarce, atmospheric short stories accompanied by striking illustrations from artist Steve Broster:
  1. Christmas Eve – A lonely young man is asked to assist in a most unusual surgical operation on Christmas night.
  2. The Fly-By-Night – A young girl befriends a strange, terrifying bat-like creature with horrific consequences.
  3. Head of the Firm – A ruthless company director goes to extreme lengths to hold onto his life at any cost.
  4. The Day of the Underdog – A downtrodden loser finally turns the tables on his tormentors... or so he believes.
Complete with a striking, visceral skull cover, an author bibliography, and a Seamus A. Ryan portrait on the reverse cover, this is an incredibly niche piece of late-90s British horror history
